NEW VIDEO:The i|wait is a simple compression device for reducing intraocular pressure and anaesthetic chemosis in preparation for common eye surgeries including cataract surgery.
This 2 minute video shows how easy it is to set up the eye weight, ready for use.
|
| The i|wait is registered by the TGA for sale and use in Australia. You can purchase an i|wait through the Oryx Medical secure online shop. From August, 2011 the i|wait will also be available in Europe and the United Kingdom. |
Unlike other devices currently in use at eye hospitals around the world, the i|wait is completely free from mercury and lead .
The 'weight' has been crafted using a tungsten polymer, (350g mass) to apply approximately 25mmHg of pressure evenly across the entire anterior surface of the eye.
The alarm function alerts attendants after a maximum cumulative application of 22 minutes to help lower the risk of damage to the eye or retinal ischemia from over-compression.
The mass of the i|wait provides even pressure across the eyelid to soften the eye, reduce conjunctival chemosis and assist the effects of retrobulbar, peribulbar or subtenons anaesthesia.
The soft moulded eye cushion maintains the eye’s natural shape, providing optimal conditions for common surgical procedures.
These effects assist surgical access and can reduce risks associated with excessive Intra-Oculor Pressue (IOP) /atmospheric pressure differential.
